The IRS: One Set of Rules for Citizens, Another Set of Rules for Insiders

David Knight,

Several months ago, reporter David Knight revealed that IRS executives said their lives were at risk in the Tea Party targeting case, implying that their corruption is so great that it would make taxpayers want to kill them. IRS officials requested that even their arguments to seal their depositions should also be sealed. The IRS has been used by both parties to attack their political opponents. In March, 2017, the IRS admitted that it had 7,000 documents related to persecution of conservative groups, yet they still refused to release them even in the Trump administation. US Attorney General Sessions has yet to fire IRS Commissioner John Koskinen. -GEG

Congressional investigators and the Government Accountability Office agreed that there was rampant bias against conservative and anti-Obama groups that applied for 501(c)3 non-profit status with the IRS.  Conservative groups were specifically targeted for their political views, which is against the law.  Conservative groups were subjected to extreme scrutiny that included examination their Facebook posts, the questioning of the political motivations of  their friends and family, investigation of the content of their prayers and inspection of their book lists.  Lois Lerner was not held accountable- she walked away with a $129,000 bonus and a pension.   John Koskinen oversaw the destruction of tens of thousands of documents that were under congressional subpoena, but he has ot been impeached or fired.
