America’s second prison system
Is there any greater evidence that America is a prison nation than the absurdity that is the public school system?
Federal and state tax dollars are doled out to school systems based on the number of children registered, so school system go to absurd lengths to ensure their rosters are filled with students, even using police power and the point of a gun.
There are many kids for whom traditional schooling holds no benefit. Yet, in big government fashion, rules are made to pigeonhole all kids into neat box. It does not matter that the kid may be round, he is hammered into the square hole. The child may be more inclined to pursue –and more adept at — a trade rather than book learning.
Beyond that, schools are used as state indoctrination centers. Today’s schools are little more than prisons or halfway houses. They teach state worship, egalitarianism, pseudo-history, incomprehensible and non-intuitive math concepts, faux civics and — as evidenced by the comments written on social media platforms and in media comment sections, including this one — no English grammar or spelling.
Once an individual goes through the public school system, he is a mature manifestation of the system and practically insulated from reality and original inquiry. Chances are great that he will live his life a fiction.
Public schools establish many roadblocks to parents and students seeking to escape the system, even when the system is failing the students and is an obvious failure in its own right. Truancy laws saddle kids with lifetime criminal records just as they reach employment age, and heavy fines and even prison sentences on their parents. And sometimes, as a mother in Buffalo, New York has learned the hard way, the state seizes the children at gunpoint to be raised by strangers.
Kiarre Harris determined that the Buffalo Public School system “was failing” her children because they weren’t excelling in elementary school. So she began researching home schooling and preparing herself to homeschool her kids. She says she filed the necessary documents to inform the school district of her intent to homeschool her children. The district acknowledges it received her paperwork.
“I spoke directly to the homeschool coordinator and she told me from this point on my children were officially un-enrolled from school,” Harris said.
One would think that would be the end of it. But government is nothing if not inefficient, overbearing and stupid. Within weeks Harris heard from Child Protective Services wondering why her kids were not in school.
As WKBW.com reports:
“I told them that my kids were homeschooled now and that I could furnish the documents if they need to see them.”
Thinking everything was fine, Harris says she went on with her homeschooling, but then, less than a month later she says she was confronted by CPS workers and police. According to Harris, they told her they had a court order to take her children and when she told them no, she was arrested for obstruction.
She says she hasn’t seen her kids in three weeks, and they’ve been in a foster institution.
Now Harris’ children are being raised by people she (and they) don’t know, and Harris’ reputation is being smeared by “a report” claiming Harris has a history of domestic violence and acts of violence that include use of knife, even though her record is clean, according a background check run by the news organization.
And those strangers raising her kids are no doubt endorsers of the public school system who are ensuring the kids are in school every day to receive their daily dose of state worship and the school receives it commensurate enumeration.
For the elite powers, it’s better for kids to be raised by the state than by a loving mother who eschews their conventional wisdom. America is the land of free until that freedom clashes with established orthodoxy. Then it’s prison for you and yours.
